Updating Multiple iPods

Hello,

I am a high school student doing a summer internship with an apple retail store located in NYC. I was recently assigned with the job to write an apple script or create an automator script that will automatically check for updates on twenty plus iPods without having a person needed to supervise the tedious process. if anyone could contribute anything, a script, an idea, anything at all, I would GREATLY appreciate it.
