Updating new drive

I got Porsche Design Desktop Drive USB 3.0 5TB.

LaCie Firmware Updater for Mac
USB 3.0 LaCie USB 3.0 (Mac) Driver

I already moved stuff to it and it seems to work fine in newish MBP Sierra.

Do i need to install these and can i do it even there is already files in new drive?

The firmware update should not affect the data on the hard drive. If you want piece of mind, make a backup of the data before applying the firmware update to the enclosure.
