My Air currently runs OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard?). Is it worth updating to the latest Mountain Lion? What would the benefits be, or pitfalls?

I'd suggest trying out Mountain Lion first (like going to an Apple store and trying it on one of the Macs out on the floor) because you may not like some of the changes (like Mission Control
) But I definitely think the upgrade is worth it for features like Notification Center, Messages, Notes, Reminders, iCloud compatibility, Launchpad, Full screen apps, more multitouch gestures, and even Mission Control (in my opinion
though you may like Exposé better)plus it's only $19.99
One pitfall might be how much ram is in your system? If it's only 2GB stick with Snow Leopard. If it's 4 GB check out Mountain Lion as suggested.
Also, how much longer before you think you will be replacing the Air? If it's under a year and the features in Mountain Lion don't matter to you it may not be worth upgrading.
Now that's a point! I am actually selling within the next couple of months so why fork out for something I'm not really going to get much use out of!
