Dear All,

Tomorrow morning I will hopefully receive the Mac Box Set and finally upgrade from Tiger to Snow Leopard. I have given up on waiting for iLife/iWork '10 to be part of the box set and 10.6.3 has passed, so the time is right.

At the moment I have set up my firewall to make my MacBook relatively stealthy, but from what I have read the Leopard and subsequent Snow Leopard firewalls are a little more complicated and a little less transparent in what they do. In Tiger I just block everything in the sharing preference pane and ticked all the boxes under Advanced for firewall settings. I haven't gone as far as using something like Little Snitch.

Are there any simple instructions for how to set up the firewall appropriately to get the same functionality as in Tiger? Also, are there any other settings that are not available in Tiger that I should be aware of, security related or otherwise, before I set about my upgrade? And is Little Snitch worth investing in?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,

In short, you'll be fine. The settings are not more complicated, but perhaps less transparent. Still though, just as easy to use and offers the same kind of protection.

It is done!

After 6 hours of calm, collected patience and 2 gigs of downloaded updates, I now have that new computer feeling without having a new computer. Sweet.

And thanks for your response, getting things set up was quite straightforward, firewall and all.
