iPod touch Updating to 2.1

I have still not updated my touch, was wondering if I do will i lose all my songs and have to put them back on again? I manually manage my music so its not really a case of backing up the entire library and shoving it back on. Does the ipod make a temp backup so i won't have to go through my music and add it again?

yes itunes backs it up and restores it exactly the way it was

yes, but in ur case i reccomend making a playlist of all the songs on ur ipod.

this wont help now but incase anything happens, it helps to not have to go through all ur music.
