Ok so this is the first iOS update in as long as I can remember that has left my iPhone without any of the apps I had before. I did a full backup before the iOS download & update and iTunes claimed that it was restoring from backup after the iOS update, but what I've been left with is an iPhone that has stuff like text message and call history, but that's about it - all my apps and music etc. are missing. iTunes currently has a dialog box claiming that it is in the middle of restoring music and videos that is very slowly moving (though the iPhone has no indication of any sync going on and still shows no music or videos at all).

Is this working as intended? If so that is a complete pain in the arse as it presumably means all saved game data etc. will have been reset as well! Once this music / video dialog box eventually completes (looks like it will be about 2 hours at this rate) I will try doing a manual restore from backup to see if that sorts it out.

[Edit: Oops only spotted the message about the iOS5 forum after I posted this - sorry!]
