updating unlocked and jailbroken iPhone from 1.1.4 to 2.0.2

I want to update my phone because I want to get apps from the app store.
Should I restore to factory settings and then update or is it ok to restore and update using iTunes' option?
I see a lot of people downgrade to 1.1.4 from 2.0 is my version better?
If I do get 2.0.2 can I jailbreak it again and add applications from installer?
