I have an iPhone running iOS 14.8.1 and am looking to buy a discounted Apple Watch Series 6 on Black Friday. Presumably it'll be running some older version of watchOS 7 and I'm wondering if anyone knows how updating watchOS works with iOS 14.8.1? Will iOS 14.8.1 offer watchOS 7.6.2, which is the last version compatible with iOS 14.x, and is Apple still signing watchOS 7.6.2? Or will it try to offer watchOS 8.1.1 which would break compatibility with iOS 14.8.1?
If no one has experience with iOS 14.8.1 specifically, maybe someone knows how previous versions of iOS behave when presented with an Apple Watch running an older watchOS, such as after iOS 14 was released are iPhone running iOS 13.x still able to update Apple Watch running older watchOS to watchOS 6.2.8?
