UPDO folders

Hello: I'm new to this forum but have a question. I'm running a mac mini with os catalina and have noticed numerous folders being stored on my desktop labeled UPDO.... with files that are either SWUP or SWIP. I also have backups via of time machine. Do I need these UPDO folders and the SWIP/SWUP files or can I delete them from my desktop. They seem to be generated automatically and are cluttering up my desktop. Thanks, bvvanes
