Hey everyone,

I'm debating whether to upgrade my 2010 iMac 27" via OWC or just sell it and get a new 5K iMac or Mac Pro.

My current config:
- 1TB HDD
- 16GB RAM

OWC's Turnkey Upgrade (http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/turnkey/iMac_2010_27)
- 240GB SSD (system) + existing 1TB (file storage)
- 32GB RAM
- around $700 for the upgrade

99% of iMac usage is Adobe Creative Suite.

Would love to hear your thoughts...

Can you be more specific as to which CS apps are being used?

If it's anything to do with photo/video editing you'll definitely benefit from the 5K display.

Upgrade 2010 iMac via OWC?

FWIW, I did the exact same upgrade to my 2010 iMac a couple of years ago. Still working like a charm.

I've never ever dabbled with computer internals before, but I did still manage to pull this off myself. Follow their video very closely, you can't go wrong.

It'll cost you $180 and a couple of hours of your time. Another couple to sort out moving your system etc. depending on how much prep work you do.

Unless I'm mistaken, you cannot upgrade your iMac beyond 16GB RAM. Source: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT4255

As redheeler said, the 5K screen is brilliant for CS work. Worth considering.
