I'd like to upgrade my 2010 MBP i7 2.66 to 8GB. What brand of memory do you recommend?

I was looking at Crucial or OWC. Leaning towards Crucial since it is slightly cheaper.

Thoughts?

Thanks.

I wish my MBP could take more than 8GB!

Anyone know of any great deals going on right now for 8GB?

Both will work fine. I got the Crucial (2x4gb) and it works A1 on my MBP early 2011.

Thanks.

Why would you install more than 8gb? Do you run a virtual machine?

Its looking like Final Cut Pro X needs all the RAM it can get.

Unfortunately this MBP can only take max 8gb unless I am missing something.

You're right. 8GB is the max.

You can find specs on all Apple products, including maximum RAM:
  • By visiting EveryMac.com: Actual Maximum RAM
  • By using Mactracker
  • By entering your serial number here to find specs for your model. (Be aware that some models can use more RAM than Apple shows. Check EveryMac or MacTracker to verify.)

I like crucial, but they do seem a bit pricey. I've gotten ocz in the past, and I'm happy with them as well, along with OWC.

The same PC3 8500 8GB memory that is 50 shipped at Crucial.com is 40 shipped at Buy.com. Score!

hmm...in uk, crucial is cheap and then there is cashback when u buy through affiliates. but yeah, maybe there are better options in US :)
