Hi
I am just going to upgrade my 15inch (model 5.4 mid-2009) mbp to 8g ram. but the supplier only got G.SKILL 4GB DDR3 1333 in stock, no 1066. I heard someone said the mbp wont boot if both ram are at 1333 speed. Is anyone have tried with this ram, and working?

also i am about upgrading to 17inch i5 (2010), will the ram work on these iX models?

cheers

1333MHz seems to work but it may but it may be underclocked back to 1066MHz. However, buy your RAM from OWC, 2x4GB costs only ~240$

thanks, i am fine with undercloecked speed, the price for owc and gskill is about the same, just wondering gskill looks a better wellknown brand right.

That GSkill ram may have a higher clock speed but it has a larger latency than the 1066MHz ram. It will also only operate at 1066MHz in the macbook pro.
You can attain 8GB of 1066MHz GSkill ram for 199.98 shipped from newegg.com.
And this ram is full compatible with the newest macbook pros.

You should buy whatever is cheapest but at the same time has the same latency.
