Hello, I’m trying to decide which device to upgrade and would really appreciate your opinions.

Current devices:
  • MacBook Pro 13" (2019, Touch Bar, 250GB storage, 8GB RAM, Intel) (currently 239 GB used, which is stressing me out)
  • iPad Pro 12.9" 4th gen (2020, plenty of storage left, battery works well)
Both purchased in April 2020. The Mac still has AppleCare renewing yearly, the iPad does not (which is also stressing me out).

Regarding any special usage - I would like to use Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro (I have both on Mac) and I occasionally use procreate for art (iPad).

My dilemma:
  • If I upgrade only one, should I get the iPad Pro M5 13" or the MacBook Pro M5 14"?
  • Or would it make sense to upgrade both, but go with two Air models instead of Pros? (Or one Pro and one Air and if so, which device should be the Pro vs the Air?)
(I also find the Mac’s storage situation confusing, since basically everything I have is stored in iCloud)

Yeah ditch the Mac, you'll get a far better performance improvement and support duration improvement going to Apple Silicon on the Mac.

I have an iPad mini (the original, non-retina) that still actually works, so I wouldn't stress too much about AppleCare or longevity or the 2020 iPad just yet.
