Upgrade apple.com switch phones

My dad and I both have an upgrade available and off contract. The other 2 lines are still under contract. I want the 6s. If my dad upgrades to the 6s through apple.com ( due to the phone unlocked) and signs a 2 year contract, can we switch so I can get his new 6s ( I stay off contract so I can leave and go on my own plan in near future) and activate it on my line? He uses his upgrade and before he uses the phone, we switch it over to me. Call verizon when the phone comes in and have the switch the numbers? Thanks.
