Upgrade drive partition question (Macintosh HD - Data)

Hi guys,

Looking to upgrade to Bis Sur later and i'm going to do it from a USB drive. I have a question. I see there is 2 partitions, Macintosh HD and Macintosh HD - Data.

When doing a fresh install should I delete them both i.e format the drive?

When I reinstall Big Sur will it create these partitions again or should I do it a different way?

Any help would be appreciated.

I take it the partitions are automatically created?
