Hi!

Just thought I would share my experience in upgrading from a 1st Gen to a Series 3. Ive seen loads of threads asking if its worth it and if there is much difference, hopefully I can answer some questions!

Ive gone from a 1st gen Stainless Steel to a Series 3 Nike non cellular 42mm.

Essentially I found WatchOS 4 on the first gen is a slow unresponsive mess so I decided it was time to upgrade.

I got the 42 mm Nike non cellular version. I'd love the cellular but sadly EE are the only network in the UK that supports it and they are crap! Its a shame as I love the red dot and the ceramic backs but wasn't prepared to pay an extra £70 for the privilege.

Impressions are its buttery smooth and everything works as it should. Its super quick loading apps and the GPS make a massive difference when running! Its really responsive and I very rarely see the spinning wheel when loading apps.

I also decided Im never buying a stainless steel again. The resale value is awful. This maybe because it was a first gen but talk about depreciation! I know they aren't investments but no way could I justify £600 on. a watch every 2 years! I wish the did a watch upgrade program!

Cheers!

Completely agree with the upgrade speeds. I only used my AW (launch) for a few months, then lost interest as interest as it too slow and choppy. I did wear it, but not very often and most certainly not for the most of 2017.

Got the series 3 and am very happy. The upgrade is significant.

Enjoy your new watch, buddy!

Definitely improvements all the way around for the Apple Watch and speed and battery with the Series 3. And you are correct, the stainless model does not have the resale value most would think. Mainly because the aluminum model is far more in line with consumers price point and ultimately, it's a piece of disposable tech that most are not willing to pay $650 for the Stainless.
