Upgrade firmware of iMac 5,2 to extend supported RAM amount

Hi all,

So I have this iMac 5,2 (Apple iMac 17-Inch "Core 2 Duo" 1.83 (IG), Late 2006 CD - MA710LL - iMac5,2 - A1195 to be precise).
As per https://everymac.com/systems/apple/imac/specs/imac-core-2-duo-1.83-17-inch-specs.html it supports max 2GB of ram.
I have ONLY Windows 7 on it.

Other models very close, the iMac 5,1 or the iMac 6,1 (https://everymac.com/systems/apple/imac/specs/imac-core-2-duo-2.0-17-inch-specs.html or https://everymac.com/systems/apple/imac/specs/imac-core-2-duo-2.16-24-inch-specs.html) support up to 4GB of ram.

I saw online that some people use a certain tool (Firmware Tool) to upgrade from iMac 4,1 to iMac 5,1.

I was wondering :

- can i use this tool to upgrade the firmware from iMac 5,2 to iMac 5,1 (I attached the file I found on http://forum.netkas.org/index.php/topic,1122.0.html) ?
- if yes, could anyone please share how to use it under Windows 7 on an iMac ?

Interesting. I've had an iMac5,2 sitting in a closet and just pulled it out today. Think it's possible under OS X though?

still have it running, no OSX on it, only Win7, but didn't manage to get it to 4GB ram...(and nor 3GB, only 2)...
and I am not sure if this question still attracts a lot of people considering the age of the device...
however, if you happen to know how to do that under Win7, I would be VERY happy to know !!

I try this and my mac says: this util only for imac 4.1 or 5.1
I think not possible flash imac 5.2 to 5.1
If you found solution how to flash and upgrade to 4gb memory, please inform
