upgrade for FCE HD 3.5?

I am finally getting rid of my old G5 that has been used as a remote file server for the last few years. I have quite a lot of work that I had done with Final Cut Express HD 3.5.

Unfortunately I can not instal this software on my current generation machine. What can I use to migrate these files to allow me to work on them, or to at least let me keep them somewhat current and available? Do I need to buy Final Cut Pro X?
