Howdy. I'm working with someone who has a couple of macs at 10.2.8. What are the options for upgrading those to tiger or leopard, preferably without doing a hard-drive reformat?

Or, if we'll end up needing to wipe the drive to install a new os, will we run into troubles reading files backed up from an earlier os?

thanks

What models are the machines? If they are Tiger or Leopard compatible there shouldn't be a problem using the upgrade option that will be available when you insert the installation disc. If you plan to upgrade more than one machine make sure that a Family Pack disc is purchased (they are available in Tiger and Leopard flavours).

Tiger and Leopard system requirements.

thanks for the reply. They're both ppc g4's. One just barely squeaks over the leopard 'must be taller than this to ride' mark, and one doesn't. So I should be able to upgrade straight from 10.2.8 to 10.5?

Are 10.4.x versions still available, for machines that won't run leopard?

Thanks
