In September last year I signed a 2 year contract with AT&T with iPhone 5C. Then sometime this year I notice I was upgrade eligible with AT&T Next. So I upgrade to AT&T Next and got myself iPhone 6.

So my friend just broke her phone (Samsung S3) and she's wondering if she can use my iPhone 5C. Do I need to get it unlocked before she can start using it? She has AT&T so it shouldn't be problem for her right? Do I need to go into AT&T? What about the SIM card? Should I take it out? (I'll ready activated my iPhone 6 btw)

Yes, she should be fine. However, I believe the 5C uses Nano sim card and the S3 uses the micro. So she may need to go to the AT&T store and get a nano-sim card. And no, your phone doesn't need to be unlocked since it's on the same network. But you could request an unlock for your her.

You can just give her the phone. She has to take it to AT&T and they'll put a new SIM card in it and activate it. No problem.

Thank you!
