Notwithstanding the impending launch of the iPhone 17....
Satisfied with the iPhone XS- for my current usage.
However,
  1. Battery capacity is 82%. Battery could be replaced.
  2. Now that it is a "vintage" model it will no longer get iOS updates. The biggest concern with this, is that applications for both the iPhone & Watch will no longer be supported going forward (1 year window I suspect).
  3. Applications tend to get larger over time and I will eventually max out the memory (64GB).
Not clear what the solution is. Seems like the #2 issue would require a costly phone upgrade...
Limited interest in AI at this point - given where Apple stands at this point. It could be something down the road.
Appreciate insight and recommendations.

The XS is will be fine on iOS 18 for at least another 2-3 years. If you’re adamant that you want to remain with it, a battery replacement is all that’s required.

If you want a super fast option with incredible battery life at a minimal cost; the 16e would be a device to consider.

@targa88 I ran into sort of the same problem a few months ago. Battery life became unbearable after upgrading to iOS 18, particularly when running the Podcasts app, and the phone would heat up and stop charging until it cooled down, then heat up and stop charging until it cooled down again. I still use it on wifi for podcasts and it has improved with subsequent OS updates, but I saw the end of traveling with my XS in the early period of iOS 18 and bought a 16 Pro. Too, I was ready for a new device. I really wanted a better camera and liked what I saw in the 16 Pro.

I don't have any specific recommendation. My insight to offer is keep feelings out of it and do what you need to do. You need to get through the day doing the things you do. Assess your priorities and decide what is best for you.
