I own an early G5, single cpu, not intel.

I was curious if it's possible to replace the motherboard with a newer one that has an intel CPU. Are g5 cases customized for the mobo that comes with the system or this this a possibility?

Any advice / feedback is appreciated.

cant mix processors, you can replace a G5 board with the same ind G5 board but nothing else.

the cases are slightly different, as far as logicboard placement and the standoffs are, considering the G5 is reversed compared to the MacPro...powersupply connectors, drive connectors etc etc. people haveused OEM Motherboards in a modified G5 casing and Macpro, casing, however you wont be able to line up the PCI slots or I/O ports.

Not to mention requires alot more than just the logic board...CPU, Memory Riser and Memory etc etc..so its not really worth it.
