I have a 17" macbook pro. (late 2011) it has a 6770m graphics card, but for games like battlefield 3 (which i run in bootcamp), this doesn't do the trick. is there a way to upgrade the graphics card or maybe have apple do it or somthing?

No, the GPU is not upgradable.

and yet another reason why i should have went with a desktop.....

And another reason you should've done some research before buying a laptop period. Just about 99.99% of laptops have only two upgradable parts: the hard drive and RAM, the rest is soldered onto a single board.

Yeah...pretty much this. You have none of my remorse.

Just for future reference via Google search:

"iMacs really aren't designed to be upgradeable beyond upgrading the RAM. If you are looking for an upgradeable Mac you are really referring to a MacPro."

iMacs are not desktops in the sense you're thinking about.
