Upgrade hard drive for late-2013 MBPr 15"?

I'm looking at Tar Drives and the like, but preferably I would be able to swap my current 256gb hard drive for a 1tb sized drive.

However, I read somewhere, I believe the Wirecutter, that it's not possible with late-2013 MBPr to do an aftermarket hard drive upgrade. How much would it cost to go through Apple to get my hard drive size increased to 1tb?

Or what about eBay? I'm seeing prices in the $600-$700 range for 1tb, but buying a hard drive from eBay makes me nervous.

Nobody makes an aftermarket upgrade for that model yet. Your only option is to buy an OEM Apple drive from eBay that was pulled form another machine.

So there is no way to buy from Apple directly?

Some of the OEMs on eBay say they have not been pulled from another machine - so where did they come from?

I have no idea where they get them. Everybody I have ever seen post on here that tried to buy one from Apple was told no. I have wondered if some of the sellers get them indirectly (grey market) from the subcontractors that make them for Apple?
