I have seen the video tutorials about using suction cups to lift off glass panel, can it be done without having access to the suction cup units????

Yes, some have done it via scotch tape or something similar like duct tape, a strong one though and one that can be removed without leaving marks behind.

You might be able to pick up cheap suction cups at your local "poundstore" - they are the ones used for hanging tea-towels on kitchen walls. I got mine for 79 pence each in the UK.

You can with duct tape or the like, but it's a little risky.

Worth buying some suction cup handles - it makes the job a LOT easier and reduces the chances of damaging the panel. You can pick them up for next to nothing on eBay
