I have a 2.66 GHz Dual Core Intel Xeon with 4 gigs of ddr2 fb-dimm ram. I'm a complete newbie to hardware upgrades.

Would it be possible for me to change my processor to an i7 chip or an 8 core Nehalem chip?

Also could I change my ram right now to DDR3 ram?

No, you can't change your processor, or the type of RAM your system requires.

I guess the best thing for me to do is sell it. I'm wondering what price I should sell it at.

BTW why is MAC ram so expensive?

You can't ask pricing advice outside the Marketplace.

Apple doesn't make RAM. They only resell 3rd party RAM, at a significant mark-up. You're better off getting the minimum RAM and upgrading it yourself.

You'll find answers to this and many other commonly asked questions under the Guides tab at the top of this page:

If you have questions that these sources doesn't cover, you can check to see if it has been answered in another thread by doing a Google search of the forums. I hope this helps!

Oh thanks for the marketplace rules.

Any website recommendations to buy ram?
