Upgrade ideas for MacBook Pro 3.1

Hello

I have 17" Macbook Pro 3.1 and I am using it for everyday computing; Internet browsing, words, presentation, Sync devices, etc. Now my MBP starts to become sluggish at the start and I got notice that battery need to be replaced.

Could you share some ideas to upgrade my Mac, please?

Only HDD and RAM are upgradeable, but you can buy a new battery if you like.
