Sorry if this has been asked countless times before but I'm very seriously considering upgrading my iMac 2011 i5 3.1ghz 24gb ram, 1tb hdd 6970m 1gb to a 2013 i5 3.4ghz or i7 3.5ghz with a 780m 4gb 3tb Fusion for gaming on Bootcamp Win 8.

I know many will say you can get more horsepower from a custom PC and they are right but I love my iMac and they hold much better resale value than any custom pc so in the long run total cost of ownership upgrading every 2 yrs say is very attractive to me. I also love the power consumption figures of the iMacs and the elegance.

I run triples with x2 23" Apple Cinema displays for gaming on things such as Assetto Corsa, DCS, FSX, ARMA 3, BF4 and the 6970m 1gb is starting to show its age (although DCS's engine is so old it should be in a wheelchair).

Has anyone got any experience going from the 6970m 1gb to the 780m 4gb for gaming. Should I buy now or wait for the next gen in september/october. The difference in price from selling my 2011 iMac to getting a 2013 will be approx €1000 so I'd be hoping for some pretty good fps improvements. Cheers.
