I have a late 2013 MacBook pro 15" 2.3 GHz i7 16GB RAM with geforce 750.. Its been great for 5 yrs so far except it needs battery replacement, new charger and crackling speakers(but I use headphones, so not a big deal)..

Replacing a new battery & charger costs like $300..

I recently looked at the MacBook air(2018) considering its extreme portability and latest generation internals.. Am an average user with no need for activities like video editing, etc & feel air is sufficient for my current daily usage

I am struggling to choose whether to keep my old mac and spend $300 on maintenance or get a new macbook air (apple trade in estimates my current mac to $500, so essentially I pay around $700 for the new air with trade in) but for a lower spec sheet & space
