Hello,

Guys I have the old Mac book pro 17" Core Duo.
I want to know if I can update the motherboard, I want to upgrade the processor but the processor is not upgradeble so I decided to ask if I upgrade the motherboard. If yes can someone tell me where I can purcahse the motherboard.

Thanks

I don't know if anyone has tried it, but I don't see any reason why the motherboard from the late 2006 Core 2 Duo model wouldn't work. However, I wouldn't recommend spending any money on such an upgrade. You would be better served spending money on a faster hard drive than a new motherboard. You would feel the difference much more than upgrading from a 2.16GHz Core Duo to 2.33GHz Core 2 Duo, and it's cheaper as well.

I would recommend a 500GB 5400RPM drive, but in all truth, there is one drive in particular that comes highly recommended, the Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB.
