With Leopard being released on Friday I have been considering upgrades for my MacBook Pro C2D 2.33. My hard drive size of 120 gb was good until I split it up for boot camp, now leopard will take even more space up so I have been eying 250 GB drives from Other World Computing as a replacement for the stock drive. I found instructions at Richard's Notes for replacing MacBook Pro hard drives, I understand it is much easier for MacBooks.
Then I found this youtube video about disassembling Western Digital Passport portable hard drives with one hand. (yes it is that easy) Which reveals a SATA 2.5 hard drive.
Here is the deal part, Staples has these 250gb passport drive which contain a WD WDGWD2500BEVS on sale for $162.98 (staples Item 702524) Combine that with a $30 off $150 coupon and a couple of stackable ink coupons and you have the drive for $123.98 plus tax with free shipping. That is far less than the $180 at OWC and you end up with an external enclosure to put your old drive in to use with Time Machine.
You may have to do the order by phone as staple sometimes is screwy about apply multiple coupons but will usually be more helpful by phone.
