Upgrade MBA 16GB/1TB to Pro

Trying to decide if I want to upgrade my MBA 16gb/1TB M1 to a new pro model. Really want the base model but 512GB is not enough storage, so the $2499 model had 1TB storage. Use case is mostly email and presentations? Am I wasting my money?

What I really really want is the old MacBook 12 inch with an M1 Processor! Thoughts/Comments
 
I could get some local cloud storage if I needed it, was thinking about doing that anyway?
