I'm wondering if I need to upgrade my early 2011 MBP to Sierra before I migrate (using Time Machine) to my 2016 MBP? Or can I skip upgrading to Sierra in the process.

I guess I'm worried that my new MBP will have issues handling the migration of my data if it comes from a MBP that is on an older OS. Maybe I'm just being over cautious.

I've been avoiding the upgrade to Sierra - don't want any last-minute issues to come up before I move to my new machine.

Thanks for advice folks!
