It's time for me to upgrade my white MB (early 2009). I'm looking to purchase the base 15" MBP model.

My MB heats up and the fans run at full speed when on youtube, or any site with flash. I don't want to get into the flash issue, but would like to know if I can expect the same from a new MBP.

Thanks!

I have just moved from a 2009 MB to a 13" MBP i7. I find it cooler than the MB. it does occasionally run the fans quite fast but certainly no more than the MB and probably a fair bit less. Fan noise when it's going hard is about the same. Otherwise, it's absolutely silent (but then I've put an SSD in it).

Newest MacBook Pro have GPU youtube acceleration, which cuts down on CPU usage, minimizing fan noise.

However you should still install flash blocker.

Same here! :D
