Wasn't sure whether to place this here or in the iOS section - mods please move if necessary.

Generally when I upgrade to a new handset I place both close to each other and let everything transfer across. This, of course, doesn't transfer all my app/banking passwords etc and I have to go through all apps to set them back up again.

Has anyone used the encrypted backup option on a computer?
If I hook my current phone up to my computer and create an encrypted backup, then restore that backup to a new handset, will it give me exact copy, with all my app passwords etc already in place and ready to use as per normal?

Last few years everything moved from old ProMax to new ProMax without fail. Even the passwords move. All I had to do is reactivate my credit cards with the 3 digit code.

Ah - last time I did it everything moved across but I had to reenter all passwords for all apps, such as mail etc, and re-activate and setup all my banking apps again (which I think is tied to the physical hardware so I may have to do regardless?)

That would be a pain. Like I said all my passwords moved over. Love the transfer system. It has been flawless for me.
