Hi....

So, I have a seen a number of posters talk about doing a complete reinstall of the iPhone with 3.0 vs. an upgrade. The indication seemed to be that some were seeing better performance (e.g. less lag, etc...) if a clean install was done. My question is how does this get accomplished? I have done standard upgraddes only, and probably will tomorrow to benchmark things first. But, I would still like to understand how to do more of a clean install. Is this the same as a restore using the restore button in iTunes?

Thank you.

Are you talking about a clean install of the GM version? Because the full official version hasn't been released?

I believe you download the 3.0 firmware separately, then on iTunes, hold shift+restore (command key on mac?) and choose the newly downloaded firmware.

I am sorry. I was not clear. I mean the new official 3.0 release tomorrow.

The gm is the "full offical release". Same build number and everything.

I'm getting some lag. I'll try. A clean reinstall tonight and let you know.

i'm not sure if it automatically updates when you restore so what i would is first update using the regular method. after that restore.
