I have a macbook pro unibody late 2008, with leopard 10.5.5 updated to 10.5.8
i bought a snow leopard dvd and want to know if it is better to upgrade over the leopard or to wipe the hard disk and perform a new install?
Thanks

Clean install is always better but requires more effort as all your data will be gone (you need a backup)

thanks, but my problem is really not the data lost
i read in many threads that the battery performance may degrade, after a new or clean install, is it possible?

Honestly, I don't think it matters much, but a fresh install is never a bad idea. I just upgraded, and didn't notice any slowdowns or problems, but a fresh install may perform a bit better.

so, i managed to have a clean new install, and i noticed a slight drain of the battery. my question: is snow leopard latest 10.6.5 consuming more battery than leopard 10.5.8? Thanks

How big loss? When was the last time you calibrated the battery? It's possible that there is a small loss in battery life but it shouldn't be big
