I have a G4 cube running OS 9.04. At one time it was upgraded to the last version of 10.4. Due to some HD problems I reformatted it and installed 9.04.
I've tried updating to OS 10.2 and higher unsuccessfully.
Do I need to first upgrade to OS 10.0? If so, where can I find OS 10.0, it doesn't appear to be available.

Thanks,
Scott

You should just be able to upgrade to whatever version of OS X you want, there's no need to take steps. I would recommend getting 10.2 or 10.3 for the cube, 10.0 and 10.1 had a lot of problems.

Also, make sure you do a clean install of OS X.

If you've already had OS X on it then the firmware is up to date to handle it. You might have to do an erase and install on it for OS X though.

No, an erase and install aren't needed. You should be able to install OSX along side OS 9 and run it in Classic.

Explain in what way you were unsuccessful. Did the Cube not boot on the installer CDs? Did the installer refuse to install? Did the installer run, but not produce a bootable OSX?

id go 10.3

10.4 is more resource hungry than 10.3 and 10.3 is the same as 10.2 requirement wise if i remember right

upgrade OS 9.04 to OS X

Thanks for all the replies. I just installed 10.4 without a hitch. Its now updating to 10.4.11.

Thanks again!
