Much to my annoyance, new ipods wont work with 10.3.9. On they other hand Windows XP users can get them to work, and use a later version of Safari.... I had better not get myself started on that one.

Anyway, I'm thinking about upgrading my OS. My question - what will the performance be like with Leopard? Will it slow me down loads? Or should I try to find a copy of Tiger instead?

Thanks for any help in advance.

You'll need more than 512 MB of RAM, whichever way you go. Leopard runs fine on my sister's 1.25 GHz G4 iMac with 2 GB. Tiger's happy with 1 GB.

I'd probably run Tiger with 2 GB if I had your powerbook and I'd look at a new hard drive at the same time. You could probably double or treble your storage space for well under £100 if you shop around.
