I have a 14-inch MacBook Pro 2021 and I am backing it up now with CCC before upgrading to Ventura.

But I've upgraded many times over the years, starting with Intel MacBooks, and using TimeMachine and my iCloud account to restore to newer machines. I'm worried that I might be copying over old drivers and settings which I might not want.

Is there a cleaner way to upgrade to Ventura? I don't have a lot of applications -- most of my 3rd party applications are MS Office, Adobe's suite, and Topaz image editing software, so restoring those as well as the iCloud stuff and my Documents folder should take care of everything.

I just did a clean reset of Ventura because I had some old extensions in the background that macOS kept warning me were gonna expire.

I followed this guy’s tutorial and it clean out my system.

Thank you. Do I update to Ventura and THEN wipe it, so that it clean restores to Ventura?
