Upgrade Snow Leopard to Snow Leopard server

Hi,

can you upgrade a Snow Leopard installation to a Snow Leopard Server without having to erase de target disk? If not, is it possible at least erase, install Snow Leopard Server and then restore from Time Machine?

Has anyone tried it?
