I have a second iPhone which I want to sync to my iMac. However it's a friends and I don't want their contact info or photos either on my computer, or lost, as she wishes to keep it all and I don't really want to have to go through my address book and delete all her contacts once backed up like a normal sync.

I've already backed up her photos and that's not an issue, it's the contacts I'm more concerned about.

It is also only going to most likely be a one time thing to upgrade and load on some music, ringtones etc and then that'll be it. Not planning to do it often.

So a couple of questions;
1. If I don't click contact sync in the iPhone menu in iTunes when I do the upgrade will the existing contact data remain? I'm assuming not as an upgrade is a wipe of the software.
2. Is there a way of upgrading to iOS4 without touching any info on the phone? I do plan on jail breaking it anyway and not that I was really paying much attention but I don't remember syncing once the jailbreak was complete when I did my own and all the info was still there. This could be a case of me doing it without thinking though...
3. Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks for any help.
