I am new to Apple other than an iPod touch ;) and am an average user of Windows PC's for work, media and a game or two.

I am migrating to apple this time (I failed to do so a few years ago and bought a Gateway nb when my Asus nb crashed and it was 1/2 price of macbook) so.....

I like the all-inclusive iMac, it's sexy! and I am leaning towards the 27".

So.........upgrade it or buy it at the store and take it home?

If upgrade, to what extent? and if not, why?

(Just so I understand a little better _ Thanks)

IMO the best value for the 27" iMac is the Core i7 @ 2.8GHz, 8GB RAM, ATI Radeon 4850M model.
But you may not need that, you could do just fine with an Intel Core 2 Duo @ 3.06GHz w/ 4GB RAM and 4670.

I'd order it from the store, but I'd order the model I listed at the top. What exactly do you use this computer for?
