I've been in the Apple upgrade program for the past two years and have an iPhone 8 Plus I'm considering upgrading to either an iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max. I was wanting to do this directly through Verizon though, since my wife's phone is on device payment with them and it's easier just to have it all on one bill and not deal with Citizens One.

Is it possible to jump from the iPhone Upgrade Program with Citizens One to carrier upgrades?

yes of course. Just do it. That's all there is to it. You can sell your phone on your own and just pay off the loan.

I did just this last night. I used my 8 Plus as a trade in and upgraded through Verizon. The difference between what I owe on my current phone and the trade in was less than $100 but YMMV depending on what you have now and what condition it’s in. I’m done with having my credit pulled every time I want to upgrade.

No it's 2 totally different entities. IUP is through Apple with Citizens doing the financing.

Edit: Sorry I re read your post. You can do the carrier purchase but you will still owe the Citizens loan.
