Okay, I tried to search, and didnt see anything, but I may not have had the right combinations of words.

So I have 3.1.3 jailbroken and will eventually upgrade to 4.0. My question is, if I do an upgrade to 4.0, Id lose my jailbreak, but when I try to jailbreak 4.0 do I have to use the same jailbreak method I used on 3.1.3? In other words, I used spirit to jailbreak my 3.1.3, would I have to wait until spirit can jailbreak 4.0 or could I use what ever jailbreak software for 4.0 comes out first?

On a similar note, I am on 3.1.3 jailbroken using Spirit. Do I need to restore, upgrade to 4.0, and then re-jailbreak and then hopefully unlock? If not, how does the update process work?

So it is okay to have used two different jailbreaking techniques on the same iphone as long as the second jailbreaking technique is used when the iphone has been restored/unjailbroken/upgraded?

Once restored, you can use anything you choose to jailbreak, regardless of what was done in the past.

So, I will have to restore my phone before installing iOS 4. I just might restore my phone on Sunday so it will be ready. That way once I get home from work, I can update. How long does the update process usually take for a major update like this? When is it usually released in the day?

No, not to go to iOS4.

I thought you wanted to re-JB on current firmware using another method.

If it's a 3GS, use this method

Remember to choose set up as new.
