Upgrade to an iPad 2 while waiting for a 3?

Alright...

I work for a large big box store (the one with the bullseye), that will be receiving the new iPad on Friday, except I know we will not be receiving the model I want, 32/black/wifi.

Does it make sense to trade in the iPad 1 for a 2 for several months, then traded the 2 when the 3 finally arrives. 15% off is hard to turn down to get it through apple directly.

Last year it took several months to get all the models in.

Would any of you do the following?

iPad 2. $399.99
Discount. $60.00
Tax. $23.80
Total. $363.79
Trade in of iPad 1 $160
Out of Pocket total 203.79

Then when the model I wants arrives
iPad 3 $499.99
Discount. $75.00
Tax. $29.68
Total. $454
Trade in of iPad 2 $225
Out of Pocket total $229

Buy new ipad even though its not the model you want. When the model you want is available trade in the iPad and get the model you want

If your numbers are accurate, you get more when you trade in the 2 than you shelled out for it in the first place so it's a no brainer really.

well the ipad you want will be $599. not $499. Also this seems like alot of work to save $60. Just goto apple and buy it now.

Not sure where you're trading in to, but keep in mind, wherever it is, there's likely to be a lot of people doing the same to upgrade to the new iPad, which would likely cause a drop in trade in value in the future. Just something to think about before you pick up an iPad 2.

Every Target are getting different amounts, and different models, so I can't say for sure, for your store.
