Upgrade to new MacBook Air?

I'm going to be a college student this fall. I currently have a 13" mid-2010 MacBook Pro (4GB RAM, 250GB hard drive, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo). It is in fine condition (only one visible scratch on bottom, clean screen).

I am considering upgrading to the MacBook Air (11" 128GB with 8GB RAM or 13" with same specs).

When I get to college, I plan to purchase a 20" monitor.

Should I sell the MacBook Pro and go with a MacBook Air?

Also, how much do you think I can sell my MacBook Pro for?

The new 2012 13" MacBook Air will serve you well through college. If your beget permits, yes, make the upgrade.

If you choose to get an external monitor, an Apple Thunderbolt Display (ATD) will be a good one to go with your new Air (if you upgrade). However, the MagSafe connector on the current ATD will not fit into the MagSafe 2 Connector on the new Air. I think that Apple will soon update its ATD with MagSafe 2 and USB 3.0.

If you want sell your current MacBook Pro, look through the prices on eBay to get an idea for the price for your MacBook Pro.
