Yeah, the contracts seem to be done with. There are sometimes indirect options similar to that, like a device payment plan when there's a special or a sale going on of some sort and the cost is something like $10/month or even less. But it isn't possible in the traditional sense of "upgrade" that most people use. I.E. $199 for a new phone.

Not sure if there's anything official (so far), I guess mostly going by information like that at http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1891953-Verizon-2-year-contracts-ending-01-05-2017/Any official word from ending all 2 year contracts?

What does that mean?
Well Verizon 'officially' stopped 2 year contracts except for some reason via their website/ iconic portal. They are terminating at least out of contracts that have exceeded 200gb/month. More to come I imagine.

If you use that much you should be booted.
They will let you make device payments which is new.
I had to buy my 4S and 5S out right to keep UD.
They raised the price to $50 per month for data in order to allow device payments.
