My iphone 5 screen broke and it would be $150 to repair it. NextWorth will give me $183 for it with a broken screen and $305 if flawless.

$305 - $183 = $122, which means it is not worth it to repair it before selling.

I used an iPad upgrade for the 5s with the same 32 GB my 5 had for $300.

$300 - $183 = $117

As a result instead of repairing a one year old iPhone 5 for $150, I am upgrading to a new 5s for a net of $117.

I ordered it from a local store yesterday (Friday) and shippings shows I will get it in two days (Monday). That is fast considering it spans a weekend.

congrats ?

I didn't want to upgrade and wouldn't have if I didn't find out I could use my iPad line for the upgrade. I would have paid the $150 to repair my screen if I it had been less money, which it would if I had to pay a $250 early upgrade fee.

Not sure why you are confused.

Confused in the need to make a thread about it.

I made the post so someone in a similar situation may find it useful. This is more useful than a thread about "what color phone did one buy" in my opinion.

Happy for you?

I would rather have not needed to spend any money. That would have made me happier.

I am changing my 32 GB to a 64 GB due to almost maxing my current cracked 32 GB.

I don't really understand the "I used an iPad upgrade for the 5s with the same 32 GB my 5 had for $300." part.... You had an upgrade eligibility on your account?

Yes, iPad had an upgrade eligibility. I used it to get the iPhone 5s subsidized. It blew my mind, because I didn't know the iPad had that since I got it for Christmas three years ago. I was going to pay $150 to repair my iPhone 5 screen if I had to pay a $250 early penalty.

I saw at AT&T today that they only subsidize $100 on iPads. For that, I will just pay the $100 extra and buy an iPad 5 or 6 at retail when they are available. That will leave it for future upgrades when only 1 year into an iPhone contract.
