Upgraded 750 gb hard disk on macbook pro 2010 help please

Hi all. I would reallyyy appreciate your help.

I've just upgraded my macbook pro's hard disk from 250 to 750gb. All screws and wires are correct and installed just fine. However the installation disc for mac osx does not see the drive to install it on?

I cannot even find the disc utility option anywhere. Can some one please help.?

I used a totally different procedure when I did mine. I put the new disk in an external USB case and set it up as bootable with Disk utility. I then ran carbon copy and cloned the disk.

You can then change the start up disk to the new disk while it is still in the external enclosure and test it booting and then swop the drive out.

We're you able to fix your problem? You need to format the drive as a Mac drive before you are able to install OSX, this is done with disk utility
